TRANSPORT TO HOTEL FROM AIRPORT...
After you get off the plane in Amsterdam Schiphol airport, follow the signs to Baggage Claim.
Pick up your luggage and then follow the signs to Meeting Point.
Use the ticket you received to ride the Connexxion shuttle van to the hotel .
Enjoy the airport's facilities (restaurants, cafes, shops, ATM machines) and then go outdoors and catch the shuttle to your hotel.
When you go outdoors from Meeting Point (exit doors are nearby), turn right and look for the Connexxion sign pictured below.
Shuttles depart Schiphol airport at the top and bottom of every hour between 6am and 9pm.
Connexxion shuttle vans are pictured below.
When the shuttle arrives, give the driver your ticket and tell him the name of your hotel (you may want to write that down and have it with you).
The shuttle stops at a number of different hotels, so please be alert and get off at the right hotel!
Please note the fare includes one piece of hold luggage and one piece of hand luggage per passenger.
RETURN TRANSPORT TO AIRPORT...
We've found that travelers securing rides on their own experience less issues.
So you'll need to arrange transport from the hotel to the airport for your flight back home.
Following are some options:
Taxi or shuttle van
The easiest and most convenient option is to have reception at the hotel call a taxi for you.
The hotel can also set up a ride for you on the Connexxion shuttle, which is a shared van service that takes travelers from their hotel to the airport (taxis are expensive in Amsterdam).
When using either taxi or shuttle, talk to hotel reception at least a day or two in advance to find out all the details, such as price and wait times.
There is also a relatively new electric taxi service that claims to be less expensive than a standard taxi. You can reserve their service online ahead of time too. Their website is: TaxiElectric.nl
Train
Trains run regularly from Centraal Station to the airport.
You have to buy a ticket for the train before you board. PLEASE NOTE - The transportion card used on trams and busses isn't valid on the train to the airport.
Train tickets are purchased from ticket machines at Centraal Station, but the machines can be confusing. Many machines don't accept cash. And the ones that do accept cash accept coins only.
Plan Ahead
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time no matter how you get to the airport, as airports can experience long wait times for things like security checks.
Plan enough time so you check-in at the airport a couple hours before your flight departure. Better yet contact your airline to see what they suggest for your check-in time.
BE SURE TO ARRIVE EARLY TO THE AIRPORT. SOMETIMES THERE ARE UNEXPECTED LONG WAITS BEFORE YOU CAN CHECK-IN!
Airline rules are such that if you arrive too late to check-in or board your flight, the airline can cancel your entire itinerary and require you buy new tickets WITHOUT COMPENSATION!
