HEM Hotel Review
November 20, 2012Room 220 is a standard twin room. The size of the room is not bad. Pretty big by Amsterdam standards. There's a nice long desk with a lot of table area. Pretty cool is the big long window curtain. It's black and white stripes and looks snazzy. View is of the backside of the fire station. Nothing to look at. Carpeting looks brand new and is very nice. Walls are ok with some artwork above each bed. The television is box type on the desk area.
Lighting is pretty good. On the desk is a desk lamp. There are two end tables by each of the two twin beds and a floor lamp. Ceiling lamp on ceiling.
Bathroom was a bit tight in the shower. You can't move around so easily in there because of the lack of space. The counter mirror thing was messed up. The cabinet is all gouged up and the light fixture mounted in the top was hanging down by wires. Sometimes the water would start running for a few seconds at a time and it's pretty loud.
Beds are not comfortable. Quite uncomfortable. Way too soft. Bedding is pretty decent.
They have a nice little dining area with bar and flat panel TV on the wall.
At night security gates close off the perimeter of the property.
There's three floors of rooms in the main building with nice easy to climb steps, or use the elevator. The corridors are pretty nice looking. Interior design is pretty nice in the building.
There's a nice shopping strip mall with Albert Heijn and a Lidl too! Just cross under the A10 overpass and you're there!
