Crystal Hotel Amsterdam Review
November 17, 2011Hotel Crystal is a budget hotel located near the Leidseplein by Overtoom.
The hotel has no elevator. Room 18 is up four flights of very, very steep stairs. Just as steep are the penalties for being caught smoking in the room. The hotel has a very strict no smoking policy.
The room, which has no en suite bathroom, is adjacent to a toilet in the corridor so you get to hear all the toilet noise going on.
The heat in the room didn't seem to work although it wasn't cold in the room.
One positive point regarding the room was the fact that there were lots of channels on the television, such as Eurosport.
Internet Wifi signal does not work in this room, even though the hotel claimed ahead of time that it does.
Internet however works fine in the breakfast room, which is typically open until 11pm. On my first night, I was allowed to stay in the breakfast room until midnight to use the internet since it wasn't working in the room.
Shabby carpeting is characteristic throughout the hotel.
Room key must be left at the front desk everytime when leaving the hotel, but there is a 24-hour front desk.
