Denver Cannabis Cup Future in Doubt

February 17, 2016

Local authorities have denied a permit application for the Denver Mart to hold the 2016 Denver Cannabis Cup on April 16-20.

Last year's event was held at the Denver Mart with up to 35,000 people attending daily.

Too many people openly consumed cannabis at the 2015 Denver Cup, causing safety concerns, according to law enforcement officials.

Denver Mart promised last year when applying for a permit that they would fix problems from the inaugural event in 2014.

Apparently the problems weren't fixed.

Another sticking point is the fact that public consumption of cannabis is illegal in Colorado.

Could Denver be the fifth High Times Cannabis Cup to be canceled in the last 10 months, joining Amsterdam, Seattle, Portland and Central Cal?

High Times lawyers have yet to comment regarding the future of the Cannabis Cup in Colorado.
