2016 Jack Herer Cup
The Jack Herer Cup is an annual event dedicated in honor of the cannabis pioneer of the same name.
Herer was a long time activist for the legalization of marijuana before he passed away in the year 2010 at the age of 70.
He is referred to by many as the "Hemperor" and a popular award-winning cannabis strain bears his name.
Herer authored two books, "G.R.A.S.S.: Great Revolutionary American Standard System" and "The Emperor Wears No Clothes."
Also a documentary entitled "Emperor of Hemp" was made about Herer's life which was shown on PBS.
The second annual Jack Herer Cup took place November 17th, 2016, at the Hard Rock Cafe located on the Las Vegas Strip.
It came only days after the state of Nevada voted to legalize recreational cannabis.
The event included a party with live music as well as a cannabis competition.
