2016 HempCon Forced Out
January 25, 2016Since 2010, San Jose California has been the home to HempCon.
That could now be in jeopardy.
Billed as "America's largest medical marijuana festival," HempCon was to commence over the weekend in San Jose.
But San Jose officials revoked the license for the event (scheduled at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center's South Hall) two weeks before because of legal issues.
City of San Jose spokesman David Vossbrink indicated that according to local laws, cannabis cannot be sold, transferred or used at the convention center.
According to Vossbrink, HempCon posted on their Facebook page that free cannabis was to be handed out, which would contradict local laws.
The event was thus moved to a new location outside of San Jose. That new location was the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
HempCon featured shows, contests, free giveaways, and seminars related to topics such as growing cannabis, cooking with cannabis, and careers in cannabis.
