BELOW ARE PRIOR NOTES:
On February 11th, 2020, High Times announced on their website the SPAIN CANNABIS CUP - their first ever Cannabis Cup in Spain - which would take place alongside some collaboration with the famous Spanish event Spannabis .
But shortly after the annoucement, High Times' web page for the event (see link below) went from having details of the Cup to serving up an error page.
- UPDATE 2/20/20: Web page for event up and running again but with no mention of Spannabis collaboration.
- UPDATE 2/21/20: Link to event page removed, web page for event no longer running again.
Additionally, Spannabis came out and denied any association between High Times and Spannabis in a tweet on Twitter calling High Times' event the "Fake High Times Cannabis Cup Spain."
Last year, High Times claimed an agreement was made to purchase Spannabis. But the deal never happened.
High Times has faced a slew of problems in recent years.
In addition to having numerous Cannabis Cup events interrupted or outright canceled due to issues with authorities, High Times has been bleeding money to the point of potentially shutting down the iconic magazine.
High Times has over $100 Million in debts, and has been trying to raise money by going public and selling stock in the company. However the fulfillment of that endevear has been delayed several times.
To add to the chaos, the CEO position at the company has been a revolving door lately.
