2016 Medical Cannabis Concentrates Cup

The first ever High Times Medical Cannabis Concentrates Cup took place on July 22nd through July 24th, 2016, at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino California.

Originally High Times called it "The first ever Oil & Art Exhibition - Medical Cannabis Concentrates Cup." As is the custom these days, only attendees with a medical marijuana card were allowed entry.

This was a cannabis extracts only event highlighting the best shatter, oil, wax, dabs, etc.

It was the third event at the NOSE Center in 2016 by High Times. The first event was the So-Cal Cannabis Cup which took place across two weekends, January 30-31 and February 5-7. The second was a newly created event called the US Cannabis Cup and Carnival, which happened on April 15-17 as a replacement to the canceled Denver Cannabis Cup.

In the run up to the Concentrates Cup, High Times indicated an intent to launch an entirely new platform for its Cannabis Cup competitions starting next year, stating, "...a newer, more exciting competition model that rewards our loyal and longtime fan base and competitors, while also attracting new friends and businesses to join us in a true championship-style celebration that culminates at the end of each year."

The event will long be remembered for the musical performance (or lack thereof) of the headlining act, rapper Lil Wayne.

Wayne, angered apparently by the lackluster response from the audience, made some harsh comments and threw down his microphone in the middle of a song and walked off stage.

Thus Wayne ended his scheduled one hour show after only playing for approximately 10 minutes.
