COLORADO CANNABIS CUP - This Event Did Indeed Take Place November 21, 2019
Before this year, the last time High Times held a Cannabis Cup in Denver was in 2015 and it was huge, with 10's of thousands attending.
But Denver authorities aren't too keen these days on big blowouts burning buds & bongs, so this event was kept kinda quiet and low-key-like, and happened for only 1 day. Englewood's Gothic Theatre, the venue.
Maybe the good 'ol times will roll again next year, when the state's Marijuana Enforcement Division creates new licenses for legal cannabis consumption events.
But we'll have to wait and see how that goes down exactly, with the devil being in the details.
This year at the 2019 Colorado Cannabis Cup, first, second and third place awards were awarded for four flower categories (indica, sativa, hybrid, sungrown/outdoor), four concentrate categories (indica, sativa, hybrid, non-solvent), two edibles categories, two vape pens and cartridges categories, and a pre-rolled joints category.
The top dogs in flower were:
- Indico with Mandarin Sunset (Indica)
- Denver Recreational with Samoas (Sativa)
- Dank by Pank with Orange Cookies (Hybrid)
- San Juan Strains with Clementine (Sungrown/outdoor)
High Country Cones with French Whore infused pre-roll took first prize for pre-rolled joints category.

High Times has a new event coming to Denver November 21 - the 2019 COLORADO CANNABIS CUP.
The event was announced on their website on 10/17/19. Other events on the High Times calendar include something called the High Times Female 50 slated for November 13, and The Bright Side Festival Jamaica 2020 scheduled to take place in January.
The 2019 COLORADO CANNABIS CUP is unique for a High Times Cannabis Cup in that it is only a one day event.
Will this event actually take place? We'll have to wait and see, as High Times has a track record of canceling events after announcing them, mainly due to licensing issues with local authorities.
